Welcome back! We are thrilled to get the Colusa County Run Club started. Due to the shelter in place order we are hoping to grow and inspire virtually.
We wanted to start off by sharing a few of the free resources that we are using to help us stay committed to our goals during this weird time.
- #Next90Challenge: This challenge is hosted by Rachel and Dave Hollis. They decided to turn their end of the year challenge into the Next 90 Days to help us come out of this quarantine physically and mentally stronger. They are offering 14-weeks of guidance on “living intentionally and with joy despite what’s happening in the world outside of our control”. This program includes weekly 45 minute personal growth classes, printable workbooks, and their podcast and book recommendations. Hands down this is an incredible resource we can’t believe that it is free. RUN don’t walk to Register!
- Peloton Digital: This is another favorite resource that has stepped up and made itself available to more individuals. We both have been paying Peloton members for the last year but through this quarantine Peloton Digital is offering new customers a free 90 day trial for all of their classes. There are thousands of live and on-demand classes ranging from guided outdoor runs/walks, treadmill runs/walks, bootcamp, yoga, meditation, cardio, dance, strength, and stretching. The instructors are world class and give all of the motivation you need to push through a tough workout. This App is available on Web, for iPhones, iPads, Android phones, Android tablets, and Fire TV. After the trial ends membership costs $12.99 per month. If you do sign up send us your user name so we can follow each other!
- The Un-Canceled Project: Since many runs have been canceled Run the Edge set up 4 weeks of free virtual races including 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and Ultras. You can sign up for as many as you’d like. “The Un-Canceled project is about taking the most important aspects of our lives back. It is about refusing to allow fear to make us angry or unkind to others. It is about moving our bodies, focusing on the positive, and celebrating the things that make us the most human.” To track your miles you can sync their dashboard with a Garmin, Fitbit, Apple or Strava, or enter your miles manually on the honor system. You can register here.
There is no right way to feel right now but we are finding an escape in continuing to move our bodies any chance we get. There is not a better feeling in the world than accomplishing a goal you once thought was impossible.
As you go on your own runs and walks please use our hashtag #runclubcc and tag us in your pictures on Instagram or Facebook. We are here to support your journey and help you find a little bit of stability over the course of the next few months. Let us know what you would like to hear more about. We are also in the works of trying out a few different pieces of athletic wear, we will share more soon.
Running beside you and rooting for you always,
Allison + Amber 👟
